A Sweet New Stop Open Near Toomer’s Corner

Steel City Pops, a Homewood, Ala. original, finds a new home on our beloved College Street by Toomer’s Corner.

Steel City Pops is a family owned store that makes pops inspired by Mexican Paletas, all natural, gourmet pops. These pops are made in small batches from the freshest all-natural or certified organic ingredients, locally-harvested where possible. Steel City offers three types of pops: creamy, fruity and cookie pops; you are sure to find a sweet treat that you love. As for flavors, Steel City is known for having a fun twist on your traditional tastes, such as Orange Mint Green Tea, Blueberry Cream and Vanilla Chocolate Chip.
Media Coordinator for Steel City Pops, Andrea Brown, confirmed that the new Auburn location will have all of the great flavors and styles that the original store offers.
“All of the pops for the Auburn location are made at our store in Homewood, Ala., so Auburn gets to have all of the great flavors that Homewood has to offer,” Brown said.
The Auburn location opened its doors Friday, April 3 to both brand new and returning Steel City Pops fans. The first weekend was a huge success and both employees and customers are looking forward to helping the pops store make their mark on the plains. As of right now, the store does not have any plans of a pop cart on or around campus, but Steel City is always coming up with new ways to bring you your favorite pops, so the idea is not out of the question.

Although Steel City began in Homewood, it has ventured out to many different locations just three years after its grand opening. You can now find these healthy pops at the Summit of Birmingham, The Pantry in Crestline Village and in Tuscaloosa.
